Sometimes I feel like I just want to burst into song and praise and worship God for being so constant and unchanging. This is a newer song that I heard recently and it brought out the inexpressible appreciation I have to know that I am forever God’s precious child and he is the one holding onto me. This song is like a chant that reminds me of God’s never failing strength and his unfathomable love for us. It praises him for being the Creator who has not forgotten his creation.
Truly, a life without you Lord is a life not worth living!
When things change in life and circumstances become different, or what you once thought was a sure thing became unsure, it is the fact that God is faithful and holding on to you that remains a rock that will never shift, and it stands above everything else and stands against anything else. God is a solid rock that cannot be broken or moved. His power is greater than any other and nothing can affect how he holds us in his arms. This song speaks about the unchangeable love God has for us and the permanency of his closeness and affection for his people. No matter what may come, nothing can separate us from him and nothing can make him let go of us.
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Again, nothing can separate us from God and the love he has for us. We do not need to wonder if we have God with us temporarily or at certain times of the day. We can worship God because he is always near and with us each day. There is nothing that can put space between us and hide us from his presence. We are forever his and he holds us in the palm of his hand.
Even if my grip slips, God’s grip will never loosen or slip. God is the anchor that holds me in place. The most tempestuous storm may rage in our lives but we never need to fear being carried away from the hand of God. Nothing can move the anchor to which we are inescapably tethered.
God, I can rest in your embrace knowing that you will never let go; I will never be released to drift away; I will never be anything less to you; and I will never be anything different than what I have always been in your eyes. I am secured in your arms, in your love, and in your presence and nothing can change that. And so, our heart can “remain sure in the wind and sure in the waves.”
God, you are the anchor for my soul!
