Christ is the center of Christianity. What that means is that to be a Christian revolves around following one person, Jesus the Christ. However, putting your faith in Christ and following his teachings does not comprise the entire meaning of what it is to be a disciple. The primary significance of the Christian life is being connected to Christ. Everything that Scripture speaks of regarding the life of a believer is always in conjunction with their union with Christ and the reality to which that union is designed to fulfill. But what does it really mean to be connected to Christ? And how is that connection supposed to be present in a believer’s life?

The idea of being connected to Christ is closely related to the fact that he is the Lord of our lives. Now, to be the Lord of one’s life means that one obeys the will of their Lord. But Scripture speaks more intimately about the relationship between the believer and the Lord Jesus above mere acts of obedience. It talks about believers having fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ (1 Cor 1:9; 1 Jn 4). But what does that fellowship consist of? Or what does it mean to have fellowship with Jesus? Well, there are several important places in Scripture that convey aspects about the active role that Jesus plays as the Messiah in the life of every believer and how he functions as the head of his Body.

If we neglect the true significance of being connected to Christ, we are missing the more important half of the proper relationship God designed us to have with him and with his Son. The Christian faith loses its very lifeblood if Jesus plays an absent or merely passive role in the believer’s life. Thus, let us not neglect our connection to Christ! ~JW

All this while, I’ve mistaken analog for 5G.
There’s some vital hardware reconfiguring needed to make this leap, but thank God, the upgrade is free.
